How to Avoid Elevator and COI Delays

Get the COI approved before the date

Building requirements should reach the mover as soon as the date is set, not on moving morning. Ask management for the exact COI wording or a sample certificate, send it over unedited, and then confirm that management has actually approved the document on file. When the move runs between two buildings, both need to be ready, since an approved COI at pickup does not help if delivery is stopped at the loading dock.

Reserve the elevator in writing

A verbal note at the front desk is not a reservation. Get the service elevator booked in writing for a specific window, verify the time a few days before the move, and confirm the loading area that goes with it. An unreserved elevator can leave the crew waiting or force a slower approved route, and that waiting time is billable labor.
