What Moving in Coconut Grove Actually Looks Like
The Grove is a different proposition from the rest of Miami-Dade. Housing runs from wood-frame cottages in the West Grove through mid-century ranch homes on Tigertail and Kirk Street to condo buildings facing the bay and the marinas. Very little of it is new construction, and much of it was built when a family had one car and nothing larger ever needed to reach the front door.
That history shows up in the details. Lots are deep and narrow. Driveways curve. Several streets have no sidewalk at all, so a truck parked on the road is partly blocking it. Mature banyan and oak canopy hangs low enough over Devon Road, Battersea and parts of Main Highway that vehicle height is a genuine consideration rather than a formality.

Access is where a Coconut Grove move is won or lost, so we ask about it before dispatching a vehicle.
The questions that matter are whether a full-size truck can reach the property, whether it can turn around once it is there, how far the walk is from where the truck can legally stop to your front door, and what is overhead on the approach. On several streets here the honest answer is that a smaller vehicle and a shuttle run is faster than forcing a large truck down a road it cannot leave.
Long carries are normal and they are not a problem as long as they are known in advance. What creates cost is a crew arriving with a truck that cannot get within a hundred feet of the door and no plan for the gap. Send photographs of the driveway and the street when you request a quote and that stops being an issue.
Around CocoWalk, Grand Avenue and the marina district, parking is the constraint instead. Those blocks fill early, event weekends make it worse, and a permitted space or a reserved loading area is worth arranging when it is available.
