Preparing for a Long-Distance Move from Miami

A long-distance move rewards editing. Build an accurate inventory and remove anything that is not worth transporting, since every unnecessary item is paid for twice, once in labor and once in truck space. Decide early what you will pack yourself and what should be professionally packed, photograph valuable furniture and fragile items before they are wrapped, and confirm pickup access, delivery access, expected timing and how updates will be communicated. If the destination may not be ready, arrange storage in advance rather than solving it during the move.

Protecting Furniture for Time in Transit

Transit protection is a different job from carrying a piece onto a truck. Furniture on a long haul spends hours or days exposed to road vibration, so padding is more complete, fragile components such as glass shelves and removable stone tops travel separately, and corners, legs, hardware and finished surfaces are individually protected. Pieces are secured so they cannot shift or lean into each other, and especially fragile or valuable items move up to cartons or custom crating where wrapping alone is not enough.
